The IGLTA Global Convention, New York City

Travel, learn, connect: just three descriptive words and appropriate symbols for the 36th Annual International Gay Travel Association, held tecently from April 24-27 at the midtown flagship New York City Hilton Hotel.

This is also the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising where inspiration, inclusion and equality is evident.

Founded in 1983 IGLTA has grown substantially in the LGBTQ+ community advancing a healthy agenda in travel & tourism.

Travel Agents, Tour Operators. Gay-Friendly Hoteliers and Travel Writers from around the world attended forums, discussions and meetings promoting Gay and Transgender travellers and events during this three day symposium. Included were Small Businesses Roundtable Entrepreneurs, international travel agents’ q&a’s, Women in Business networking and a healthy forum on the safety of traveling globally by the gay community in areas of the world where it is considered dangerous and illegal. Brazil and Saudi Arabia were just two destinations causing controversy.

Among the distinguished members was Eva Lange owner of an LGBT wedding & travel company in (Pink) Iceland. Guam was represented by Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio and the National Tourist Board of Italy in New York and Tourism and City Marketing Department of Milan were present and will he hosting LGBTQ+ festivities at next years 37th convention in Milan

from May 6-9.
