Sachi Asian Bistro: Divine, Decadent and Delicious…
By Michael Reubens
May Day – 01May, 2021
With a deep sigh of relief, myself and a select group of friends entered this elegant and sophisticated location shuttered prior due to Covid19 and slowly and finally reopened.
As we all know, establishments globally were – and still are – faced with strict limitations and lock-down and until most recently New York City lifted that indoor dining curfew to fifty percent and soon to a seventy five and one hundred percent – all thanks to the easing of the Coronavirus restrictions.
A temperature check by the host is mandated as we entered and proceeded to our table. All booths were spacious and socially distanced and the staff as mixed as the menu offerings. Japanese mingled with Malaysian, Chinese, Philipino and Thai to name but just a few of this multicultural personnel. Our table provided an eyeshot to the Suchi station where the chefs were creating and preparing mouth-watering far eastern epicurean delights!
Our waiter, Chandra, patiently suggested and offered explanations to our menu choices as we settled for appetizers including selections of Crispy Duck Buns, Miso Octopus, Thai Chicken Wrap, Tango Tuna and Tuna Tartare Guacamole,
For the entree I chose Salmon Teriyaki. My guests selected Pad Thai, Spicy Queen sushi roll, Phoenix Sushi roll and the all time favourite, General Tso Chicken. Glasses of Prosecco and traditional Plum Wine complemented our liquid taste buds. We declined dessert as we were truly and fully satisfied!
The atmosphere was relaxed, the chefs and wait staff were mask-wearing throughout and waiters and hosts excelled in their friendly and highly professional presentation and service. I thankfully observed no loud, annoying and distraction of background music.
